Our Mission

We are the creators of beautiful artifacts you will cherish and use for generations. Our mission is to slow fashion down to a place where it respects the humans who make it and the earth that provides for it.

Our Mission

Product with Purpose

Nothing in fashion says purpose more than a handbag. Ours have the time-worn purpose of keeping your stuff from falling on the ground. But they do it with a timelessness that sees you proud and delighted to carry it around year after year. After year.

Our mission

The Feeling is Mutual

Byrd Studio and Ellevana have a healthy business relationship. It is respectful and lawful. It honours the things that each party needs to achieve and demands that the rights of all humans in the process of making our handbags are respected.

Our mission

Growing old Gracefully

Getting old is good. Our bags are made from leather because it ages with style and grace. It can be repaired and reused. It rarely ends up at the rubbish tip. Leather was sustainable before we all started talking about sustainability.

Meet the makers

Byrd Studio bags are made by the skilled team of leather crafters at Ellavana in Noida, India. With over 60 years of experience, this family-owned business has a reputation for exceptional workmanship and quality, whilst maintaining high workplace standards for their employees as well as a focus on women’s empowerment within the company.

It is an absolute pleasure to team up with Ellavana and to share our values of exceptional quality, customer service, ethical and sustainable work practices and the elevation of women and women owned businesses within the business community.

Meet the designer

These bags are designed and prototyped in Australia by Sasha Carroll, who started working with leather in 2003 when she began her studies in Custom Made Footwear. After completing her studies, she dabbled in cobbling for a few years and discovered her love for leather craft and bag design and went on to start The Butcher Byrd. She designed and handcrafted leather bags and sold them at various design markets, until re-launching as Byrd Studio in 2024.
